The Hard Truth College Students Need to Hear
To all the recent graduates and current college students — this one’s for you.
I recently interviewed several candidates, and while I truly appreciate their pride in having earned their degrees, I couldn’t help but notice some troubling patterns. The reality is, many of these graduates are not on track to “make it big,” and here’s why:
1. Lack of Real-World Skills
Your degree might be impressive on paper, but if you don’t have the practical skills companies are looking for, it’s not going to matter. Degrees alone don’t make you employable; it’s what you can do with the knowledge you’ve gained that counts. Are you ready to master the skills that employers actually care about?
2. The “I Already Know” Attitude Holds You Back.
In today’s world, the learning never stops. The problem? Too many graduates think their degree means they’ve already learned everything. In reality, most successful people never stop learning. If you’re not willing to put your ego aside and pick up the skills needed in the workforce, you’re going to fall behind.
